How Folk Tales behaves on a wall
Our estimate, worked out from the hex colour, puts the light reflectance value of this Vista Paint shade at about 14.6; Vista Paint's own figure may differ. At an estimated LRV of 14.6 this is a dark shade. It absorbs far more light than it gives back, which reads as depth in a bright room and as gloom in a north-facing one. Expect to prime if you are covering something much lighter. For trim that reads as a clear edge rather than a smudge, aim about 30 LRV points away — roughly LRV 45 and up. With 45 points between its strongest and weakest channel it holds a readable yellow cast, so it will not flatten into a neutral once it is on four walls. Order by the code, not the name, and put a test patch on the wall before you commit — a screen cannot show you how this shade behaves in your own light.
Folk Tales equivalents in other paint brands
The closest color to Vista Paint Folk Tales from each brand we carry, measured with CIEDE2000 on the manufacturers' published color values. Below 1 the difference is practically invisible; below 2 you'd only notice it with the chips side by side. Screens and printed chips aren't paint, so compare real samples before you buy. In the Muro app you can put two of them on a photo of your own wall and look at them in your light.
